About this service
West Sussex Young Carers supports children and young people under eighteen who look after a family member who is ill, disabled, or misusing substances. Support includes a named worker, groups and activities, and help for the family so that the caring does not fall entirely on a child. Referrals can come from a school, GP or another service, and young carers can also ask for help themselves. Recognition matters here: many children do not realise that what they do every day has a name.
