West Sussex Fire and Rescue Safe and Well Visits
Free home safety visits that check fire risks and fit smoke alarms for eligible residents.
A short visit can remove a worry you have been carrying quietly for a long time.
About this service
A Safe and Well Visit is a free, pre-arranged visit from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to your home. Crews or trained staff check fire risks, discuss escape plans, and can fit or replace smoke alarms where needed, and they also ask about wider wellbeing such as falls risk, heating and loneliness so that other help can be arranged. Visits are prioritised for people who are older, disabled, or living with conditions that make a fire more likely or harder to escape.
How they can help you
Reduces the risk of fire at home and connects residents to other wellbeing support in one visit.
What to expect
Someone will contact you to arrange a convenient time, then spend around half an hour checking the home and fitting alarms if needed.
Who it's for
West Sussex residents who are older, disabled or otherwise more at risk from fire in the home.
