STAMMA
National advice, information and support for people who stammer and their families.
Support is available if speaking feels stressful or isolating for you or someone you care about.
About this service
STAMMA is the national charity for people who stammer. Stammering is a speech difference that can affect the flow of speech, for example by repeating sounds or words, stretching sounds, or getting stuck on a word. Formerly known as the British Stammering Association, STAMMA works to create a world where people who stammer are respected and heard. It shares clear information about stammering, challenges stigma and misunderstanding, and helps people feel less alone through practical advice, community support and trusted resources.
How they can help you
They help people who stammer, and the people around them, understand stammering and find support that fits real life. This can include practical information, advice for handling school, work and everyday conversations, support for parents and families, and resources that help people feel more confident speaking and asking for adjustments when needed. They also campaign to improve public understanding of stammering so people are treated with more patience and respect.
