It can be especially hard to ask for help when you are facing abuse alongside other barriers or pressures. You deserve support that respects your safety, dignity and individual circumstances.
About this service
Shakti Women’s Aid provides shakti offers key worker support, safety planning, practical help, refuge options, support for children and help accessing benefits, legal advice, healthcare and wider services. They also provide specialist support for migrant survivors facing extra barriers. It is there for black and minority ethnic women aged 16+ and their children affected by domestic abuse in Edinburgh and surrounding areas. You can use it in person or online, whichever suits you. There is no charge for using it. You can contact them yourself, so you do not need to be referred by anyone else. If you are in immediate danger, call 999 rather than waiting for a reply. Support is there whether you are ready to leave or are still working out what you want to do.
