About this service

The Nottingham City SEND Sensory Team is a multi-disciplinary group of specialists dedicated to supporting children and young people who are deaf, have a hearing impairment, or have a vision impairment. They work in close partnership with families, schools, and health professionals to ensure that sensory loss does not become a barrier to learning or social development. The team includes Qualified Teachers of the Deaf and Visually Impaired, as well as BSL instructors and habilitation specialists who provide mobility and independence training. By offering functional assessments and specialist teaching, they help young people develop vital communication and independence skills from diagnosis through to the end of their schooling. Their mission is to promote full inclusion in educational environments, ensuring that every child has access to the curriculum and the tools they need to succeed. They provide a nurturing and expert layer of support during the crucial formative years of a young person's life.
